Strikers U13 Orange girls team won the championship of the top flight at the Schaumburg Soccerfest August 29-30, holding their opponents scoreless throughout four games while scoring 8 goals themselves. 

 

Scoring was evenly distributed in a 5-0 opening victory against Ajax, with one goal each converted by Tricia Heneghan, Leah Silver, Eden Miller, Esther Ramsay and Haley Thompson.  The girls then played to a 0-0 tie before qualifying for the championship with a 2-0 defeat of Chicago Fire Juniors behind goals by Thompson and Tamae Douglas.  The Strikers defeated top power Palatine Celtic 1-0 for the championship behind Heneghan's goal and yet another excellent team defensive effort.

 

It's believed to be the first time a Strikers team held the opposition to nothing but "clean sheets" for an entire tournament.  Other players contributing to the outstanding defensive and all-round effort included Megan Aeschleman, Jamie Heneghan, Demi Philosophos, Gabi Gorgoni, Katie Warner, Alexa Gillman, Jamie Cozette, Hanna Sklar and Cami Jordan.
