| TWO UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS |
|
The Oak Park-River Forest Strikers girls Under-12 and Under-13 orange teams both went undefeated to win their fall 2008 IWSL division championships. The U12 girls posted a perfect 10-0 record, completing a turnaround from their first season at u9 age when the team was winless. Led by coach Lloyd Costello, the team outscored its opponents by 35 goals to 9 for the season. Needing a win in their final game to finish unbeaten, the Strikers defeated Arlington Aces 7-2, showing their usual balance and chemistry as seven players scored one goal apiece. The U13 girls finished with 8 wins, no losses and two ties, outscoring their opponents by a whopping 33 goals scored to just 1 for the opposition all season. Goalkeepers Emma Dunne and Erin Schrobilgen and defenders Kate Spittle, Hannah Silverman, Elana Abrams and Kristen Laible contributed to the stingy defense. Caroline Coughlan and Isa Escalona sparked the offense with four assists each, and goal scoring was distributed throughout the team including Lauren Wilkes with 7 goals, Gaby Barkidjija with 6 and Wren Osler with 5. Tess Trinka, Meredith Blatner, Tessa Saraceno and Mara Logerquist controlled the midfield, and forwards Ruby Gonzalez and Natalie Blamires gave the team offensive pop.
