Starting in Spring 2008, the Strikers changed referee assignors. All referees and assistant referees henceforth are required to carry or maintain a current United States Soccer Federation referee certification (ranging between 9 and 18 hours of classroom training). In addition, we are encouraging more teenagers to attain referee certification in order to become center referees as well as assistant referees. Towards that goal, Carlton Fisher, a State-level referee and Oak Park resident, is working with Assignor Chuck Race to mentor younger referees each season. Referees are assigned via a web-based scheduling program which reduces the need for last-second phone calls, and gives the referee a log of all games handled during the season. If you are interested in joining the Striker referee pool, regardless of soccer or referee experience, please email Chuck at crace822@sbcglobal.net.
